Jaruwan’s story

Jaruwan is 13 years old and lives in a church dormitory connected to her local Compassion centre in Thailand. To collect water, Jaruwan and her friends often need to walk down the hill from their centre multiple times a day. But the water there is not clean. Children in Jaruwan's community suffer from waterborne and skin diseases caused by poor sanitation.

But thanks to generous supporters, our local church partners were able to install a clean water system. There are 512 children at Jaruwan's Compassion centre and within the first year of this intervention, the number of children with waterborne diseases reduced from 31 per cent to 10 per cent.

Jaruwan is delighted that she now lives in a place where she can keep healthy. "I can have a clean shower and wash my clothes," she says. "And me and my friends and other kids don't have a skin rash anymore!"

You can join our mission to impact the lives of children like Jaruwan.
